Goa –  situated on the southwestern coast of India within the region known as the Konkan. This is the land of beaches, parties. Nightlife. Goa , is attracting tourists from all over the world.  It is worth visiting  as it is easily accessible by air, road and rail.

Climate- Goa features a tropical monsoon climate . Goa, being in the tropical zone and near the Arabian Sea, has a hot and humid climate for most of the year. The month of May is usually the hottest, humid . The state’s three seasons are: Southwest monsoon period (June – September), post-monsoon period (October – January) and fair weather period (February – May).

Travel by Air to Goa – Goa International Airport, is at Dabolim near Vasco da Gama .The airport caters to scheduled domestic and international air services.  The distance from the airport to the Panaji city is approximately 30 kilometers , 60 minutes  

Travel by Rail to Goa-  Goa is very well connected by Railways as well .  Goa has two rail lines – one run by the South Western Railway and the other by the Konan Railway . The line run by the South Western Railway  was built during the colonial era linking the port town of  Vasco da  Gama. Goa with BelgaumHubliKarnataka via Margao. They have 2 major important  Railway stations  are – Margao and Vasco De Gama .

Travel by Road to Goa-  Most of the Goa is well connected by Road . Government-run buses, maintained by the kadamba Transport Corporation, link major routes (like the Panaji–Margao route) and some remote parts of the state, In large towns such as Panaji and Margao, intra-city buses operate. Goa has four National Highways  .Tourists also can hire  transports like  unmetered taxis and, in urban areas, auto rickshaws, motorcycle taxi ( single passenger) . 

Travel by Sea to Goa: Goa can be accessible by Sea route also. Tourists do opt for ferry drives .  River crossings in Goa are serviced by flat-bottomed ferry boats, operated by the river navigation department.

 BEACH EXPLORATIONS

North Goa Beaches – 

1.Anjuna Beach –Anjuna located approximately at the stretch of 18 kms from Panjim city.  This beach is  known for its various trance and rave parties and a vibrant nightlife that attracts thousands of tourists each year.

 2.Aguada Beach – This beach is known for Fort Aguada Hotel complex, a superb hotel that is built on the cliff. Aguada beach has cafes, shops that sells Kashmiri carpets, one can enjoy foot massage and all water sports. Fort Aguada is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort, along with a lighthouse, standing in GoaIndia, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea

 3. Ashwem Beach– The Ashwem beach is one of the best-kept secrets of North Goa. This beach has excellent food and stay options which make it extremely suitable for a holiday. Despite the restaurants and the resorts, the beach remains remarkably empty and undisturbed. The untouched beauty of the place makes it a perfect setting for a day out in the sun. Not the hub of any activity, this place is suited for swimming and sunbathing in tranquillity.

4. Arambol Beach – Arambol beach is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Goa, bordering Keri Beach to the north and Mandrem Beach to the south.[2] Located 43 km north of Goa‘s capital city of Panaji. The beach attracts many international tourists, mainly during the winter season between November and March.

 5.Baga Beach –  Baga beach lies along the west coast of Goa which begins at Fort Aguada, continues as Sinquerim Beach and moves on to Candolimand at last merges into Calangute Beach and then stretches on to Baga, Anjuna and on to Vagator, finally ending at Chapora .  This beach is  famous for water sports, such as parasailing and banana rides, and dolphin cruises.

 6. Bambolim Beach– Located in North Goa, this peaceful little beach is a haven for those who want to enjoy the sand and surf without the crowds that pepper most of the other beaches in North Goa. The beach is a secluded stretch of sand and rocks, lined on the landward side with swathes of swaying coconut palms, which provide a cool and shady place to relax.  The Bambolim beach is located near the little seaside town of Bambolim which is about 7km from Panaji, the capital city of Goa. Although there is no bus service to the beach, it is quite accessible by road and can be reached using the services of a pilot or taxi service.

7.Calangute Beach –Calangute is most popular beach of North Goa. One can enjoy amazing whether along with beach side market. Since its very near to the Panjim city  it is thronged by the tourists all the year. Not to be missed ..

 8.Candolim Beach –. Candolim is  located in the Bardez taluka in the state of Goa. It is situated just south of Calangute Beach and North of Sinquerim, and is a tourist destination. It is less congested and has better planned than the other beaches of Goa. Nonetheless the Candolim Beach is also famous for hosting India’s biggest electronic music dance festival, the Sunburn Festival, which is organized by Percept, an Entertainment, Media and Communications conglomerate.

9. Chapora Beach – Chapora Beach is a coastal village at Chapora River estuary lying alongside a beach stretch in North Goa that is around 10 km. from Mapusa, a City in Northern Goa. It is close to Chapora Fort, an old Portuguese fort. Chapora is also close to a trawler-fishing jetty. Place famous for Dil Chahta Hai Shooting – Chapora Fort.

10. Caranzalem Beach – is Located to the west of the Miramar beach, this beach is a sight to behold. The lining of the pines, palms and grassy lawns along the beach further enhance the lure of this beach.

11. Morjim Beach– If you want to spend your holiday vacation in a laid back manner, free from any hustle and bustle, then Morjim is a great place. The beach has a lot to offer to its visitors starting from scenic natural beauty to amazing closeup view of the marine species in their natural habitat. Morjim beach is worth visiting in the course of your in Goa itinerary. Morjim Beach is famous for the endangered Olive Ridley Sea Turtles. The northern end of the beach is a nesting ground of the turtles.

12. Mandrem Beach –  a coastal village famous as a tourist spot in Pernem taluka in North Goa . It is 21 km from the capital Panaji. It has  a white sand beach with clear water. The beach of Mandrem lies between the twin beaches of Morjim and Arambol. The beauty of Mandrem Beach is especially during the High Tide time when the seawater rushes into the Mandrem Creek or River. Mandrem has a small fishing community and occasionally one might see local fishermen hauling their catch from the sea. If you want clean Serene and peaceful beach in North Goa then Ashvem , Mandrem and Morjim are the best to explore.

13. Sinquerim Beach – The Sinquerim beach is a beautiful beach that has a spectacular stretch of sand. It is located at the south of the famous beaches like Baga, Calangute and Candolim.

14. Siridao Beach–  This little beach is around 30 km from Panaji. Though this beach is easily accessible by car.  This beach is famous for its mysterious caves, which are the proof of the diverse nature that this place enjoys.

15. Vagator Beach–  is the northernmost beach of Bardez Taluka , Goa. It is across the Chapora River from Morjim in Pernem. To the south of Vagator is Anjuna, one of the first hippie haunts of Goa.

SOUTH GOA BEACHES-

1.Agonda Beach- If you continue driving towards Panaji from Palolem, the next beach is Agonda. It’s long and lonely, fringed with palms and casuarinas and dominated by a large hill to the south.

2.Benaulim Beach– Less than 2 kms south of Colva is the more tranquil beach of Benaulim, is one of the few places in Goa where one can glimpse handicrafts typical to this area. Famous for the traditional rosewood furniture which is made here.  Benaulim is that it is still rather undiscovered by domestic tourists even though it is a fishing beach. It gets fairly crowded in the evenings and on weekends with local visitors who get off buses about a kilometer away and pour onto the beach.

3.Betalbatim Beach– The Betalbatim beach lies between two better-known beaches- Colva and Majorda. However, unlike both beaches, Betalbatim beach is a 1 km beautiful stretch of golden sand in South Goa between Colva beach and Majorda beach. etalbatim is a small beach that has retained its original charm and identity even while thousands of tourists visit Goa in the main season, often making the most popular beaches very crowded. The northern part of the beach is sometimes called Sunset Beach, but the sunset view is as good from Betalbatim as it is from the Sunset Beach.

 4.Butterfly Beach– Butterfly Beach is a fairy place, the beach of butterflies, which occupies a tiny semicircular bay on the high northern end of Palolem beach. In a perfect and amazing world of South Goa paradise beaches this nice piece of coast is single, lonely and solitary. Golden sand at the foot of high rocks, which surrounding the Beach with a dense ring from the land, will easily make you feel yourself in heaven. When trees are in bloom, you can see lots of different beautiful butterflies flitting here and there. Presumably, such a variety and a generous amount of butterflies gave a name to the Beach.

5.Bogmalo Beach – Bogmalo a small beach-side village in Goa. It is situated in a small bay with around a mile of curving sandy beach. The beach is located about 4 kilometres from Dabolim Airport 

6.Cavelossim Beach– Cavelossim beach is known for its contrasting black rocks and white sand. Cavelossim Beach is located at 15 km south of Margao, the district headquarters of South Goa. This has white sand and black lava rocks. The beach lies in between the river Sal along the east and the Arabian sea to its west. Being a peaceful beach, Cavelossim attracts a lot of tourists.  You can also  go for dolphin sighting boat trips in the sea.

7. Colva Beach– This is the most important beach in the South circuit, equipped with all modern amenities like air-conditioned resort complexes, tourist cottages, discos, besides several stalls, eateries and guest houses—all of which have expanded the village enormously. With 20 kms of virgin white sands, palm fringed, sun drenched beaches, Colva is the most loved beach in Goa. Unlike Anjuna or Calangute, Colva has gained popularity only lately. Located just 39 kms from the capital Panaji, it was relatively little disturbed and life moved on quietly.

 8.Cola Beach– This is perhaps  one of South Goa’s most naturally stunning beaches, Cola Beach is blessed with golden-brown sand, and backed with a thick assembly of tall, plush coconut palms. Because of being hidden by thick overgrowth around the beach, this beach has a mysterious ring to it making it all the more alluring. Since this beach was naturally secluded, it doesn’t attract much tourists .

9.Hollant Beach– This beach is the perfect romantic setting of lush greens and it has tropical fauna . This beach is emphasized by the breath-taking view of the sun and the sands on one end. One of the most extraordinary features of this beach is the right-angled shape of the beach, which not only makes you witness the astounding sunset but accesses you to watch the mesmerizing sunrise over the Indian Ocean too.

 10.Dona Paula Beach– Dona Paula Beach is 7 km from Panaji. The beach is named after Dona Paula de Menzes, daughter of a viceroy (in colonial India), who threw herself off the cliff, when refused permission to marry a local fisherman, Gaspar Dias. The myth says that Dona Paula is entombed in the Cabo Chapel of the Raj Bhawan and is supposed to be seen emerging from the moonlit waves wearing only a pearl necklace. With the romance and myth attached to it—haunted by Dona Paula de Menzes—tourists throng the Dona Paula Beach not only in search of the deceased beloved, but also to indulge in water sports on the clear waters. It offers an opportunity to the tourists to have a sunbath and buy cheap seaside goods from local vendors. This beach has also been the location for many Indian movies, the most famous being Ek Duje Ke Liye. Given this dual attraction, Dona Paula Beach has become a popular tourist spot.

11.Galgibaga/Turtle Beach– The quiet Galgibaga beach is South Goa is perhaps one of few hidden treasures that Goa has left. The beach is famous for the nesting grounds of the Olive Ridley turtles, a protected species. The northern portion of this beach is protected as the turtles nesting grounds and gives the beach its nickname, Turtle beach. It is about 56km away from Colva, which is a popular beach resort in South Goa and 54km away from Margao, the cultural capital of Goa.

12.Patnem Beach-The Patnem Beach is one of the quietest and most secluded beaches of South Goa. The beach is known for its peacefulness and beauty as well as the succulent seafood that is available in the area. Patnem beach is located in the South of Goa, near the more famous Palolem beach. This beach is about 42km away from Colva and 40km away from Margao which is the cultural capital of Goa. The beach is accessible by road.

13.Palolem Beach– Palolem is a cosy beach of white sand facing a blue bay between two headlands. One could try and persuade one of the fishermen — this is also a fishing beach — to ferry you across. They also offer to take you out to spot dolphins.In recent times, Palolem has become famous for its ‘Silent Noise’ parties. A unique concept which does away with loud blaring live music after the 10 pm ban. With your own set of earphones, you can dance away to different genres of music played by versatile DJs.

14.Morbor Beach–  Mobor Beach is located right beside the Cavelossim beach in Goa. The Mobor beach is also known as being the extension of the Cavelossim beach, where adventure sports are conducted. If you are a big fan of adventure sports and water sports, it is the right place for you and this is the destination for tourists in Goa to enjoy various types of water adventure sports. The water sports include jet skiing, parasailing, canoeing, sailing with the dolphins and many more.

15.Majorda Beach– It is  located in just 5 kms away from another popular beach of Goa that isColva Beach in South Goa. This beach property is surrounded with hotels, resorts and guest house for toutists to stay and enjoy the beach location.

16.Varcha Beach – This beach is simply adorns the entire Goa with its 10 kms stretch of marvelous white sand covering seashore and the glittering blue waves hugging the coast. It has beautiful black lava rocks dotting the sand along with sun beds and loungers. Varca is a home to the local fishing community and so wooden fishing boats are lined in some areas.

17.Velsao Beach– This is located at a distance of 25 km from the capital city Panaji, Velsao Beach lies on the southern coast of the state. This beach enjoys proximity to various other popular beaches, namely Majorda Beach and Colva Beach on its south and Bogmalo beach to its north. Boating is quite popular over here due to the clean soft silver sand, profuse flora and fauna and the privacy, these are some of the perks that are assured by this little pearl in south Goa.
