Indian monsoon has arrived in many States and is going to come in many States. In the monsoon, everyone is waiting for rain drops. Most especially for youngsters and couples, the rainy season is considered to be very good. Most of the youth are those who plan most trips on rainy days. Everything around you looks fresh and vibrant, you witness nature refresh itself and you in the process. In such a situation, if you are also thinking about travelling in the rain, then you should take care of few things in mind to make your experience hassle- free.
- Probably the most important thing in the list, the weather forecast. Always check the weather forecast for the day and the following day, depending on the nature of your trip. If the forecast says extreme weather conditions like heavy rainfall, hailstones, or storms, it’s best to stay put. Keep in mind, no destination is worth taking this kind of risk. If you are travelling to the hills, it is imperative that you check the weather forecast first, as there might be chances of landslides and cloudbursts in hilly areas.
- The weather has cleared and you can see that it’s the perfect time to pitch a tent, make sure that you have packed insect repellants. Monsoon is when a lot of pesky bugs come out, especially mosquitoes and leeches (depending on where you are).
- Also, make sure you have your first-aid kit fully stocked for any emergencies like cuts and scrapes. You do not want infection when you are out and about.During the rainy days, most people have problems like cough-cold and fever, for this, you must keep the necessary medicines with you during the journey.
- Carry extra masks At a time in which the COVID cases are going up, you will have to wear a mask whenever in public, and the rain can possibly make it wet, if the monsoon is in the mood for some windy dance .
- Avoid rush hours Getting stuck in traffic during the rain need not be a pleasant experience. Whenever possible, avoid the peak hours to enjoy your activity or reach your destination.
- During the rains, the hilly areas become quite slippery. Because of this, keep such shoes or footwear with you, which is comfortable and do not slip.
- When the sun comes out after the rain on the mountains, the chances of getting skin tanning are the highest. If this happens, keep sunscreen with SPF 15+ with you.
- If you are going to walk around in the rainy season, then you must carry raincoats and umbrellas with you.
- In the monsoon, if you are travelling to a place where you have to walk a lot, then keep a flashlight with you.
- Trekking in the rain is quite a hobby of people, however, take care not to go trekking where there is a hilly area.
- If you are going to a high altitude place during the monsoon, then keep a folding stick with you, which will help you to trek.
- Keep a zip lock bag with you during the monsoon journey, so that you can keep your cameras, and smart phones in a safe place.
- Carry a waterproof bag with you during the journey. This is so that your belongings are not wet and you can keep your luggage well.
- Eat healthy ,avoid having a hot tea from a road-side shack during the monsoon. As waterborne diseases spread easily during the season and so, as far as possible, it’s better to go for the healthy options in food and drinks. You might not feel thirsty, but ensure that you drink enough water.
